Implementation of Automated Approval for Greater User Convenience and Enhanced Efficiency
The Official Receivers’ Office (ORO) receives over 2,000 applications annually from discharged bankrupts applying for a letter confirming no objection to the issuance of a Certificate of Discharge by the High Court to the discharged bankrupts (“No-objection Letter”), where the Official Receiver acts as the trustee in these cases. With the “No-objection Letter”, a discharged bankrupt can apply to the High Court for the certificate of discharge.
To facilitate the application of “No-objection Letters”, ORO has implemented an electronic submission channel adopting iAM Smart, providing the public convenient access to the department’s online services. Going an extra mile in enhancing the quality and efficiency of its services, ORO has further automated the approval and generation of the “No-objection Letter”. By leveraging data (e.g. personal particulars of the applicants) already available in ORO and applying pre-defined approval rules, manual effort involved in verifying application data, vetting, preparing and sending replies can be saved. This service enhancement reduces processing time and minimises risks of human error. Applicants can also benefit from a streamlined process with reduced application information requirements and improved timeliness as well as convenience in receiving application results and approval documents.
Automating business processes enables the Government to deliver public services more efficiently and effectively while enhancing the user experience and overall satisfaction of service recipients.
