Recognized Certification Authorities in Hong Kong

Certification authorities (CAs) play an important role on the effective operation of the public key infrastructure (PKI) and as a credible third party to proof of identity of the parties involved in an electronic transaction.

Currently, there are three recognized CAs under the Electronic Transactions Ordinance (Cap. 553) (ETO) in Hong Kong. The Postmaster General is a recognized CA by virtue of the ETO and offers Hongkong Post Certification Authority services, whereas the Digi-Sign Certification Services Limited and Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Limited are commercial recognized CAs which have been granted recognition under the Voluntary CA Recognition Scheme of the ETO.
