Digital Log-books System for Lifts and Escalators
The Lifts and Escalators Ordinance (Cap. 618) requires the Responsible Persons of lifts/escalators (i.e. owners and property management companies) to keep a log-book for recording all works details in relation to lifts/ escalators. However, paper-bound log-books have inherent limitations in ensuring the accuracy and accessibility of data.
The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) has developed the Digital Log-books System for Lifts and Escalators to enable Responsible Persons, the trade and EMSD to ubiquitously record, manage and analyse lift/escalator data. Analysis of collected data supports formulation of safety measures and policies by EMSD.
