Type Approval Process and Authentication System
According to the Lifts and Escalators Ordinance (Cap. 618), Registered Lift/Escalator Contractors must obtain “type approval” (i.e. approval of design) from the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) for the installation of a lift/ escalator and/or a safety component of a specific model.
EMSD has launched the Type Approval Process and Authentication System, a single online portal to support the submission, processing and management of type approval applications.
